The airplane is a terrible classroom. We follow a more efficient and effective framework. You'll learn online and do your skill building with our signature visualization method or in a simulation device before you train in the airplane.

Learn-Do-Fly is a proven three-step framework for optimal learning. It has a long and successful history for training aerobatic and military aviators. After acquiring knowledge (LEARN), trainees visualize or simulate its application in the DO part. DO provides an effective bridge to the in-airplane training. It offers multiple pathways depending upon the resources available at the training center, budgetary constraints, and the student's experience with aviation flight training devices (ATD); e.g., Redbird flight simulator.
Options for the DO part include:
- visualization / mental imagery (chair flying on steroids).
- training on a local ATD (sim)
- remote training on a personal ATD or PC.
Our experiments at the Pilot Proficiency Center in Oshkosh and with the Intro to Stalled Flight program have proven the Learn-Do-Fly concept and its positive impact on student performance in the airplane.
The LEARN part (Part 1) is fixed at $149. The DO and FLY (Parts 2 & 3) are based on the published hourly rates of the training resources (e.g., flight simulator, airplane rental, fuel), the instructor, and the estimated amount of time required to complete each of these parts based on the pathways that you take.
Yes, provided:
- the airplane is appropriate and approved for the maneuvers
- your course instructor is qualified in the airplane and agrees to train you in it
- the airplane insurance provider, school/flying club, etc. approve it
Although using an airplane with which you are familiar is a benefit, your airplane may not be suitable or approved for all the maneuvers in this program. Check with your course instructor.
We plan to expand to other parts of the country once we establish a firm foundation at each of the three Centers.
