The Treasure Valley

Experience the perfect training environment in Idaho's Treasure Valley, where open airspace meets diverse terrain ranging from high desert to challenging mountain conditions. A very pilot-friendly community.

Good Weather

The Idaho Treasure Valley offers good flying weather most months of the year.  Crisp, dry air enhances aircraft performance creating a training environment where weather rarely disrupts your schedule.

Aircraft

Snake River Flyers has a diverse training fleet including a Cessna 152 and two 172's.  They also have a 1947 Stinson Voyager.  All of the aircraft are regularly maintained.

Flight Simulation

Air-O-Drome Aviation is located at the Caldwell Airport and has a full motion Redbird MCX for flight training.  This is one of the nicest AATD (flight simulators) in the Treasure Valley region.

Things to Do

The Treasure Valley offers 190+ miles of hiking trails, while the Payette River provides whitewater rafting adventures during summer months. Enjoy farm-to-table dining featuring Idaho's fresh local produce.

Frequently asked questions

How do I best prepare?

Maintain flexibility:  the DO and FLY parts are subject to equipment availability and weather conditions so your schedule may change.

Be adaptable:  Your instructor can modify the training exercises based your progress and needs while still maintaining course objectives.

Plan ahead: Bring your pilot certificates, medical, logbook, flight gear, and anything else your instructor requests for the DO and FLY
parts.

How long is the training?
As they say in general aviation, it depends.  Typically the DO and FLY parts can be accomplished over a couple of days but the FLY part is weather dependent.  However, the DO part can be accomplished in any conditions and the SoCal climate generally favors good year round flying weather.
How much does it cost?

The LEARN part (Part 1) is fixed at $149. The DO and FLY (Parts 2 & 3) are based on the published hourly rates of the training resources (e.g., flight simulator, airplane rental, fuel), the instructor, and the estimated amount of time required to complete each of these parts based on the pathways that you take.

Can I use my airplane?
Yes, provided that it is acceptable with your designated expert trainer and appropriate for the course syllabus.  Although using an airplane with which you are familiar is a benefit, your airplane may not be suitable or approved for all the maneuvers in this program.  Check with your flight instructor.
Other types of training?
CP Aviation specializes in Emergency Maneuver Training (EMT) as well as aerobatic instruction and tailwheel training.  Aviation Instruction at KCMA offers instrument training in their FAA approved Redbird MCX.  Consider adding on more training while you're there.
Where will I be training?

Your in-airplane training will take place at CP Aviation located at the Santa Paula Airport (KSZP).  Flight simulation training will be conducted at Aviation Instruction based at the Camarillo Airport (KCMA).

Where is this available?

We plan to expand to other parts of the country once we establish a firm foundation at each of the three Centers.
