The Pilot Proficiency Center (PPC) is a public venue at AirVenture that showcases best practices for maintaining proficiency and safety through simulation flight training. For the past 5 years the EAA has assembled a world class team of industry leaders along with their flight training tools and services. The goal of the PPC is to introduce pilots and instructors to a proven array of flight training tools and services available to them, not only at the Oshkosh event but back home.
The Pilot Proficiency Center features 14 advanced aviation flight training devices (AATD) and a X-Wind crosswind trainer. The Redbird LD advanced aviation training devices is loaded with over two dozen VFR and IFR missions. Each sim is staffed by a professional flight instructor who is there to assist the pilot and demonstrate the effectiveness of simulation training.
Simulation missions consist of three offerings. Exercises are skill building maneuvers for the Pilot in Training. Scenarios are end to end missions for a Pilot in Command that require judgement to successfully complete the flight. Competency Bundles combine Scenarios and Exercises by subject matter.
This year at the PPC we have distinguished between Scenarios and Exercises. Exercises are skill building maneuvers for the Pilot in Training. Scenarios are end to end missions for a Pilot in Command that require judgement to successfully complete the flight.
