Pilot in Command
EAA Proficiency365™
An IFR scenario with a choice of two starting points. Brief the mission scenario and the destination weather. Then choose your approach.
About "Pilot in Command"
Scenario Type: IFR
You’re headed from Redding KRDD) to Arcata KACV), California for a business meeting. KRDD is marginal VFR, but the TAFs are calling for LIFR all along the Northern California coast, so you’ll need to be on your game for the arrival. Your aircraft has a full tank of fuel and you’re the only one on board. It’s just you and your briefcase.
ATC has routed you northwest of your original route for traffic, so you’re approaching KACV from the west and are presently nine miles from the airport. The ATIS confirms that the weather has arrived and it’s near minimums at Arcata.
There are two versions of this scenario, A & B; however, the only difference is the starting point based on your approach choice. You will need to decide which approach into KACV you want before you select your flight. Remember, this mission is a scenario. The instructor will be there for you, but more as a mentor. You’ve got all the information you need for this trip and everything is your call. Time to request your approach with Seattle Center.

What to Expect
This IFR mission scenario was professionally developed and designed for optimum performance on a Redbird ATD. Special coding and data enhancements provide a realistic and rewarding training experience.

What You'll Learn
While mission exercises are for skill building scenarios require a pilot in training to use their expertise in a real world situation. Then add decision making to the mix. Scenarios rely on judgement calls from a true pilot in command.
