Advanced IFR Mission Scenario EAA 1909

You’re flying your spouse and 12 year old stepdaughter from KBML to KBTV. It has been a great visit with friends and family over the Fourth of July weekend in Berlin, New Hampshire but everybody’s ready to get back home to Vermont.

The weather forecast shows that while you will be in IMC for most of the climb you should be on top for the cruise portion of the flight. You’re cleared as filed nearly direct to Burlington and it looks like you’ve got a tailwind too.

You’re on the ramp; engine run up is complete. All you need to do is to brief everything one more time and load your flight plan. It’s hot and muggy in the airplane. Your passengers' patience is wearing thin, but they know you’re not taking off until you’re ready. Your objective: get the family back safely to Burlington International.
