VFR SCENARIO #3

Shenandoah Sortie

ATC_Icons_copy.png

Scenario of the Day:  Wednesday 7/26

You are flying from the airport at Front Royal (KFRR) to New Market, VA (8W2) for some avionics work.  Your route takes you through a valley where a stationary front, running from southwest to northeast, parallels your course.

There is also a low-pressure center forecasted to move to the northeast along this front, but you think you can beat any associated weather to New Market.  You know in any case that you should be able to return to Front Royal, where VFR conditions are forecast throughout the day, although you’re due for a strong crosswind back at Front Royal.

This scenario will challenge your decision-making and instrument scanning skills.  Good Single Pilot Resource Management (SRM) will help lead you to a successful outcome.
