VFR SCENARIO #7

"Hello, Clearance..."

ATC_Icons_copy.png

You are ready to get underway from a towered field; three of them, actually.  Make your request and copy your VFR departure instructions from a range of airports with a variety of departure instructions.  You won’t need to actually fly the departures, or even start the engine, but you do need to get that readback correct.  Now, get that pen ready...

You’ll be practicing at Burbank (BUR) and John Wayne (SNA) in Southern California; both are Class C airports. Then, you’ll finish up at a small patch of dirt near the coast.  You might have heard of it… LAX?

At Burbank, you’ll call clearance for VFR flight following to Bakersfield at 8,500.  At John Wayne, you’ll call clearance for VFR flight following  to Santa Monica at 3,000. Finish up on the south ramp at LAX with a call to clearance for a VFR departure to the southeast along the shoreline (no flight following).

Bravo, sir/ma’am, Bravo!  We’re not congratulating you on a job well done, that’s just the type of airspace you’ll be dealing with.
